Receive Holy Spirit Guidance

  • Let Your Holy Spirit help us to pray because Your Word says that we do not know how to pray as we ought but that the Holy Spirit helps in our weaknesses and makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered (Romans 8:26)

  • Let the Holy Spirit make intercession through and for us according to the will of God (Romans 8:27)

  • Let the Holy Spirit guide us into all the truth and declare to us the things that are to come (John 16:13)

  • Let the Holy Spirit baptize us fully as with the apostles, let tongues of Holy Spirit fire rest upon each of us and let us receive Your Holy Spirit power so that we are led by the Holy Spirit in everything pertaining to this life (Acts 1:5-8 & Acts 2:1-4)

Adapted from Isaiah 1

You nourished and brought up children, and we have rebelled against You; The ox knows its owner and the donkey its master’s crib, but we do not know, Your people do not consider. Alas, sinful nation, we are a people laden with iniquity, a brood of evildoers, children who are corrupters! We have forsaken the LORD, we have provoked to anger, The Holy One of Israel, we have turned away backward. The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faints. From the sole of the foot even to the head, there is no soundness in it, but wounds and bruises and putrefying sores. We have not been closed or bound up, or soothed with ointment. Our countries are desolate; our cities are burned with fire. Strangers devour our land in our presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.

Our hands are full of blood. Help us to wash ourselves, let us make ourselves clean, help us put away the evil of our doings from before Your eyes. Help us cease to do evil, learn to do good, seek justice, rebuke the oppressor, defend the fatherless, plead for the widow.

We were faithful and have become harlots! We were full of justice and righteousness and now murderers. Our silver has become dross, our wine mixed with water. Our princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves. Everyone loves bribes, and follows after rewards. We do not defend the fatherless, nor does the cause of the widow come before us.

Adapted from Isaiah 59

Behold, Your hand is not shortened, that it cannot save. Nor Your ear heavy, that it cannot hear. But our iniquities have separated us from our God, and our sins have hidden Your face from us, So that You will not hear. For our hands are defiled with blood, and our fingers with iniquity. Our lips have spoken lies, Our tongues have muttered perversity. No one calls for justice, nor does any plead for truth. We trust in empty words and speak lies. We conceive evil and bring forth iniquity. We hatch vipers’ eggs and weave the spider’s web.

Our works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in our hands. Our feet run to evil, and we make haste to shed innocent blood. Our thoughts are thoughts of iniquity. Wasting and destruction are in our paths. The way of peace we have not known, and there is no justice in our ways. We have made ourselves crooked paths. We have not known peace.

Therefore, justice is far from us, nor does righteousness overtake us. We look for light, but there is darkness! For brightness, but we walk in blackness! We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if we had no eyes. We stumble at noonday as at twilight. We are as dead men in desolate places. We all growl like bears, and moan sadly like doves. We look for justice, but there is none. For salvation, but it is far from us. For our transgressions are multiplied before You, and our sins testify against us. For our transgressions are with us, and as for our iniquities, we know them: in transgressing and lying against the LORD, and departing from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving, and uttering from the heart words of falsehood. Justice is turned back, and righteousness stands afar off. For truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter, so truth fails, and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey.

You saw it, and it displeased You. That there was no justice. You saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor.

Adapted from Isaiah 1

We have come, Lord, to reason with You, that though our sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool. Help us to be willing and obedient, so that we shall eat the good of the land. Help us not to refuse and rebel, and not to be devoured by the sword. For Your mouth, oh LORD, has spoken.

We confess all this sin, and we ask for Your forgiveness.

Thank You Lord for hearing our prayers in the Name of Jesus Christ - Amen!
