Receive Holy Spirit Guidance

Lord our God,

  • Let Your Holy Spirit help us to pray because Your Word says that we do not know how to pray as we ought but that the Holy Spirit helps in our weaknesses and makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered (Romans 8:26)

  • Let the Holy Spirit make intercession through and for us according to the will of God (Romans 8:27)

  • Let the Holy Spirit guide us into all the truth and declare to us the things that are to come (John 16:13)

  • Let the Holy Spirit dwell in us fully as with the apostles, let us receive Your Holy Spirit power so that we are led by the Holy Spirit in everything pertaining to this life (Acts 1:5-8 & Acts 2:1-4)

Receive Comfort

Blessed be Your Name, oh God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)

  • You will increase our greatness and comfort us again (Psalm 71:21)

  • This is our comfort in affliction, that your promise gives us life (Psalm 119:50)

  • Let your steadfast love comfort us (Psalm 119:76)

  • We will give thanks to You, O Lord, for though You were angry with us, Your anger turned away, that You might comfort us (Isaiah 12:1)

  • For You, oh Lord comfort Zion. You comfort all her waste places and make her wilderness like Eden, her desert like the garden of the Lord. Joy and gladness will be found in us, thanksgiving and the voice of song (Isaiah 51:3)

  • You are He who comforts us (Isaiah 51:12)

  • As one whom his mother comforts, so You oh Lord will comfort us (Isaiah 66:13)

  • We are blessed as we mourn, for we will be comforted (Matthew 5:4)

  • For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too (2 Corinthians 1:5)

  • But God, who comforts the downcast, will comfort us (2 Corinthians 7:6)

  • May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort our hearts and establish them in every good work and word (2 Thessalonians 2:16-17)

Overcome Despair

Lord, in the Name of Jesus Christ,

  • You set on high those who are lowly, and we who mourn are lifted to safety (Job 5:11)

  • You are near to our broken hearts and You save our crushed spirits (Psalm 34:18)

  • Our flesh and our hearts are failing, but You are the strength of our hearts and our portion forever (Psalm 73:26)

  • Lord, You heal the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds - heal our broken hearts and bind up our wounds (Psalms 147:3)

  • You will swallow up death forever. You, our Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces. You will remove Your people’s disgrace from all the earth. You, oh Lord have spoken (Isaiah 25:8)

  • We will not fear, for You are with us. We will not be not dismayed, for You are our God. You will strengthen us, You will help us, You will uphold us with Your righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10)

  • Give us a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit, that we may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that You may be glorified (Isaiah 61:3)

  • Though we are grieved, we know that the joy of the Lord is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10)

  • We come to You, as ones who are weary and burdened, and You will give us rest. We take Your yoke upon us and we learn from You, for You are gentle and humble in heart, and we will find rest for our souls. For Your yoke is easy and Your burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30)

  • Now is our time of grief and sorrow, but we will rejoice in You, Jesus Christ, and no one will take away our joy (John 16:22)

  • May You, our God of hope fill us with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit we may abound in hope (Romans 15:13)

  • Lord, we will count it all joy, when we meet trials of various kinds, for we know that the testing of our faith produces steadfastness, and steadfastness will have its full effect, that we may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing (James 1:2-4)

  • We look ahead to the day where You will wipe every tear from our eyes, where there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, when the old order of things will have passed away (Revelation 21:4)

Overcome Guilt

GOD THE FATHER, LORD JESUS CHRIST & GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT: “Is not Your Word like as a fire? and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?” (Jeremiah 23:29) Let Your Word that we speak below burn every spirit of guilt and regret, and every lie of the devil, the father of lies in whom there is no truth (John 8:44). Let Your Word that we speak below break as a hammer every power of the evil one.

  • For whenever our heart condemns us, You, God are greater than our heart, and You know everything (1 John 3:20)

  • Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1)

  • We reject all condemnation of the devil, for we know that there is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1)

  • For Godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret (2 Corinthians 7:10) - Lord, if Paul could overcome regret for all the Christians he persecuted, we too can overcome all regret wherever we could have done better with our loved one, for You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9)

Overcome Hopelessness

  • Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in You (Psalm 33:22)

  • Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him, my salvation and my God (Psalm 42:11)

  • For you, O Lord, are our hope, our trust, O Lord, from our youth (Psalm 71:5)

  • We will hope continually and will praise you yet more and more (Psalm 71:14)

  • You are our hiding place and our shield. We hope in your word (Psalm 119:114)

  • Surely there is a future, and our hope will not be cut off (Proverbs 23:18)

  • You, Lord are our portion, therefore we will hope in You (Lamentations 3:24)

  • As for us, we will look to the Lord. We will wait for the God of our salvation, our God will hear us (Micah 7:7)

  • Lord, we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience (Romans 8:25)

  • For we know that for we who love God all things work together for good, for we who are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28)

  • May the God of Hope fill us with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit we may abound in hope (Romans 15:13)

  • For through the Spirit, by faith, we ourselves eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness (Galatians 5:5)

  • We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain (Hebrews 6:19)

Amen.
