  • Lord, who is like unto thee, which delivers the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoils him? (Psalm 35:10)

  • Be a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble (Psalm 9:9)

  • Deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help. Take pity on the weak and the needy and save them. Rescue them from oppression and violence, for precious is their blood in Your sight (Psalm 72:12-14)

  • Bow down Your ear to them, deliver them speedily, be their strong rock, a house of defense to save them. For You are their rock and our fortress, therefore for the sake of Your Name, lead them and guide them (Psalm 31:2-3)

  • Pull them out of the net that has been laid privily for them, for You are their strength. Into Your Hand we commit their spirits. Redeem them, O Lord God of truth. You have known my soul in adversities. Deliver them from the hands of the enemy. Put their times in Your Hand. Deliver them from the hand of their enemies. 3. Children Abused By "Trusted" Adults

  • We are speaking up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. We are speaking up so that You will judge fairly and defend their rights (Proverbs 31:8-9)

  • Cover them with Your pinions, and under Your wings let them find refuge. Let Your faithfulness be a shield and buckler for them (Psalm 91:4)



4.  Widows In Oppressive Cultures

Example Verses to Incorporate in Prayer

  • Father of the fatherless and protector of widows are You, Lord, in Your Holy habitation (Psalm 68:5)

  • We seek judgment to relieve the oppressed and the fatherless and we plead for the widow (Isaiah 1:17)

  • You watch over the sojourners. Uphold the widow and the fatherless and ruin the way of the wicked (Psalm 146:9)

  • Keep the fatherless children alive and let the widows trust in You (Jeremiah 49:11)

  • Be a swift witness against those who oppress the hired worker in his wages, the widow and the fatherless (Malachi 3:5)

  • Let the mistreated widows cry out to You, for You will surely hear their cry (Exodus 22:23)


  • Bring them out of darkness and break the chains in pieces. Break the gates of bronze, and cut the bars of iron in two. Send Your Word and heal them, and deliver them from their destructions. Calm the storm, so that the waves thereof are still. Turn their wilderness into pools of water, and the dry lands into water springs. Set the poor on high, far from affliction, and makes their families like a flock (Psalm 107)
